The magnetic stirrer (1), with a heated plate (2), has a pot-shaped protective shrouding hood (7) between the heated plate (2) and magnets (6), fixed to the housing (3) to shroud the magnets (6) against the plate (2). When set for use, it forms an air gap (8) between the hood (7) and plate (2). The hood (7) is in a sealed bonding at the housing (3) to form an upper section of the housing (3), to contain the magnets (6) within the housing (3) interior.
