The measuring device uses an easily replaceable flow sensor, which is automatically switched in alternation, via a valve and flow channel arrangement for the respiration gases, between the patient and a special calibration lung without interrupting the patient's respiration cycle. Pref. two slider valves (37, 38) are employed. Each of the valve sliders are provided by a tube which is closed at one end, with their closed ends coupled together mechanically via a strap (39) for synchronised movement. ADVANTAGE - Allows increased measuring accuracy.
