The structure comprises flat sheet-metal components bent over at opposite sides and hinging downwards on suspension rails. These are covered with fire-resistant material at the side furthest from the room. Plasterboard strips (1) are inserted in the sheet-metal component (1) along two opposite sides, and hold a plasterboard panel (5) clear of it on the rear side, the panel being fixed to the component. There can be three strips along each opposite side, the inner one forming a step on which the panel (5) rests. An outer panel (6) of the same material is fixed to the latter, and completely covers the sheet-metal rear side. USE/ADVANTAGE - Fire-resistant ceiling structure with no need for mineral-fibre insert.
