The appts. generates a dispersion of materials with a large phase boundary area including solid materials and a fluid (F) or gaseous phase (G). The phases have different specific weights resulting from the operating conditions in the separation assembly and that each phase can dissolve in the other under the right conditions. The appts. consists of a dispersion unit (R), a separation unit (S), tubes inking the flow paths (D1, G2, F2), units which are required to bring about the necessary fall in pressure of the materials employed, together with inlet and outlet tubes (G1, F1, N, D2). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process may be used in the manufacture of polyurethane foam, foamed glass, metal foams, ceramic foams, the acceleration of bio reactions and stripping extractions. The appts. generates a fine-celled dispersion containing a high proportion of the dispersed phase.
