The blood pressure determination method involves the evaluation of amplitude and frequency information contained in cardiac sounds picked up by a microphone in conjunction with calibration using an inflatable cuff and ECG electrodes for synchronisation of the appts. to the second sound. A specific characteristic vector is worked out in a multidimensional characteristic space marked by e.g. the second relative moment of the short-term acoustic spectrum. USE/ADVANTAGE - For 24-hour patient monitoring. Quasi-continuous measurement can be made on patients with any pulse rate, without subjecting them to any injury or stress.
