The petri dish has a mounting at one side, shaped to its structure, at right angles to the cover side of the dish. An axis passes through the mounting to project upwards and fit into a holder opening of the mounting of the dish over it, on the same axis line. The axis projection is a pin, aligned with the holder opening of the dish over it. The mounting section is shaped at the radial outer side of the petri dish. The upper end side of the petri dish has at last two axially aligned projections to fit into recesses at the lower side of the dish over it, or the dishes have three projections at the top and matching recesses at the base, together with a shaped tab to move the dish at a radial side. The dish holder has a base to support stirrup members to secure the dishes through their linking axes, and a projecting pin to fit into the holding recess at the mounting of the bottom dish in the stack, aligned with the upper holder to contain the projecting axis pin of the top dish. The radial outer side of the petri dish base can be expanded conically as an apron over the dish below it and project over it. The dishes, on a radial plan, are circular, oval or polygonal. USE/ADVANTAGE - The petri dish is used for enzymology or microbiology and similar applications. The dishes can be assembled into a stack, with easy access to any dish in the stack by swinging it out on the side axis mounting.
