The support frame (3) which fits on the loading surface (5a) and supports at least two drums is longer than the available length of the loading face so that it projects back over the rear end of the vehicle. The length of the support frame is measured independently of the length of the loading surface but according to the overall length of the row of drums being transported taking into account the minimum prescribed contact pressure of the vehicle front axle (5f) on the ground. The vertical height of the bearing (7a) of the drum support (7,7b) on the support frame relative to the ground is measured so that a fork stacker can move the drums in and out of the drum supports. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for power cables. The drum supports can be lowered down so that they can be handled by forklift trucks. Greater storage area is available.
