Boiler for the heating of heating water and/or non-potable water, in particular for households, with combustion chamber and gas-jet burner. A combustible gas/air mixture is fed to the gas-jet burner. The gas-jet burner has a reaction grid, through the mesh of which the gas/air mixture discharges and on the combustion-chamber-side surface of which the combustion is effected in the form of a flame skin. The reaction grid is red hot. An ignition device is arranged in the area of the reaction grid and an ionisation sensor works in the area of the reaction grid.
