Serial analogue=digital converter - uses comparison of analogue value obtained form series conversion register bits and analogue input

The analogue/digital converter has a control circuit using result of the comparison between an analogue value obtained from a digital value via a register (2) and an analogue input signal, to alter the bits in the register to a lower value. A bit register (9) holds the bits identified by the first register (2), with a fixed value register (8) allowing them to be set to a binary value '1' or '0'. A setting up circuit (4M) uses a bit of lower value than the register bits obtained from the fixed value register, to act as a guide bit from which the subsequent conversion is started. USE - For conversion of water temp. values for ic engine cooling system, for ic engine turbo-charging pressure, or for vehicle acceleration values. Accurately converts analogue signals which are only slightly varying.
