A slider (18) carrying a cutting tool or tool carrier is adjustable, pref. transversely, wrt. the rotation axis of a base body (10). The slider displacement is measured and electronically evaluated and displayed. Measurement structures on a substrate plate (32,34) are divided by a gap into separate, mutually parallel displacement planes. The plate surfaces carrying the measurement structures are in eccentric tangential planes parallel to the rotation axis. The inner substrate plate (32) is attached on the inner side to a carrying structure. The outer plate (34) is supported by an outer carrying structure (36). Material is added to or removed from one or both carrying structures to adjust the gap and parallelism between the slider and base body.
