The system is esp. for engines running on a mixture of petrol and alcohol. Performance characteristics stored in a controller are used to give the ideal mixture of fuel and air for different operating conditions, dependent on the mixture proportions measured with the engine running. Adjustment of the characteristics takes place only after the alteration in the proportions measured with the engine running has continued for more than a predetermined period. The length of this period can be determined by the degree of alteration in the proportions. USE/ADVANTAGE - IC engine-operating system using mixed fuels, eg. petrol and alcohol, avoids unstable engine operation.
