Vehicle rear axle in which the U-section in the two end regions of the torsion bar (3) has a first symmetry plane (1) parallel with the welded wall region of the linkage arm (2). In the central region of the torsion bar between the two ends the U-section has a second symmetry plane (11) set at an angle to the first plane. The parallel shanks (6') of the U-section are in consequence in the middle region directed obliquely downwards towards the front or obliquely downwards towards the rear. USE/ADVANTAGE - Vehicle axle may be made using simple welding techniques and axle has no oversteering tendencies but good understeering properties.
