The ultrasonic source (1) is a spherically shaped piezoelectric device with a central opening (2) producing ultrasonic waves in a sector (RS1 to RS2) with a focus point (F) on the optical axis (A). In the free space bounded by an inner sector (RS2,RS2) an acoustic lens (3) is positioned with a focal point (F) lying in the optical axis of the transducer array (4). The latter consists of a spatial 4 x 4 x 4 ultrasonic sensor matrix whose output signals are acquired by an electronic unit (5) and displayed on a VDU (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - Therapeutic ultrasonic treatment of internal organs using display for location purposes. Simple and time-saving.
