The invention relates to a process for the production of a combination of an engine block and a cylinder head for a double-piston engine and to a mould for carrying out the process. The mould comprises an outer part (10) with a mould cavity (11), the walls of which serve to form the outside of the engine-block and cylinder-head combination. Also provided are a first and a second inner part (12, 13) of the mould, which are arranged at a distance apart in the mould cavity and have cylindrical portions (12a, 13a) which form the cylinder bores in the block during the casting process. The first and the second parts (12, 13) of the mould each furthermore have an upper portion (12b, 13b) arranged above the cylindrical portion. The upper portions form parts of a common combustion chamber during the casting process. The mould furthermore has a third, inner part (15), which extends through the outer part (10) of the mould and interacts with the first and second parts (12, 13) of the said mould to form the combustion chamber during the casting process.
