The device is made from an angle strip (2) to fit over the vertical edge of the brickwork. Horizontal struts (3) join the open section of the strip and are spaced at the same spacing as the brick courses. The strut thickness is less than the mortar thickness. The bricks are laid into the angle section to align accurately. The bottom horizontal strip is thicker than the others and has a loose fit between the lowest two brick courses. Holes in the side flanges of the strip secure alignment lines for the brick courses and enable the strip to be clamped onto the wall edge with simple grips.
