The invention relates to a device 15 fitted to the axle 7 of a vehicle. The load 4 and the chassis 5 rest on the axle 7 by way of a known suspension. The hooks 18 are integral with the axle 7. Each cylinder 20, 21 is carried by a side member 5 of the chassis so that it can come to rest on a saddle 22 of the axle 7. When the cylinders 20, 21 are extended, the side members 5 are caught under the nose 19 of the hooks which eliminates any play of the suspension. Application: prevention of rolling and transfer outwards of the transverse stability limit, especially for those vehicles with a high centre of gravity or those parked on terrain with a transverse slope; particular case of a tipper truck parked on a transverse slope.
