The joint seal between the rotating shaft (1) and the body (2) is made up of a primary annular comb (3) fixed to rotate with the shaft (1) and a second annular comb (4) connected to the body (2) which cooperate with each other to form a gas labyrinth barrier between two gas filled chambers (5,6). The barrier is formed by the blocking gas traversing through the chicanes formed by the combs fed from orifices passing through each of the combs (3,4) positioned one upstream and the other downstream of the barrier. A roller bearing (7) is mounted axially fixed between the fixed (4) and rotating comb (3) to form a monoblock assembly. The only play between the monoblock barrier is that (J1,J2) between the body (2) and second comb (4) for assembly purposes. Use/Advantage - A labyrinth gas seal between a rotating shaft and a fixed body made of monoblock construction to ensure a minimum labyrinth for the gas seal for maximum efficiency.
