The watch provides time indication and direction finding by means of movement of the sun in the northern hemisphere. Noon is positioned at the top of the watch face indicating South. Midnight is diametrically opposite indicating the North. Six hours to the left indicates East and 18 hours horizontally opposite indicates the West. Graduations are fixed in fractions of 15 degrees/hour corresp to 24 hours along the angular declination of the sun. Noon is at 180, Midnight at 360, six hours at 90 18 hours at 270. Hourly reading is done by a single finger which makes one complete tour of the face in 24 hours and which is used for solar sighting. The face is divided into two horizontally separate hemispheres. The upper for daytime and the lower for night-time. USE - Designed to replace the classic compass.
