The process comprises taking an animal's skin, esp. lamb's skin, and removing the wool from it. The skin is then cut into two thin layers of more or less the same thickness, and these are tanned and treated to given them one smooth side and one velvety side. After the skin has been dyed to the required shade, a layer of natural or synthetic fur is attached to the smooth side, especially with the aid of a water-based adhesive. After assembly, the skin and the synthetic fur are pressed at over 100 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved imitation of fur-bearing skin, is obtd.
