The insulator includes a cover plate (3), held against each end of the insulator body (1) by a screw (4), which secures the electrified control conductor (C) within the rebate (2). The rebate has a depth which is slightly more or less than the conductor diameter, according to whether the conductor is to be axially free or fixed respectively in the rebate. Optionally the insulator may alternatively accept conductors of two different diameters, either the plate or the rebate base including a stepped section fitting the alternative diameter. To retain thin flat conductors, the plate is reversed. Its other face has a central projecting section which nearly fills the rebate, holding the conductor against the main body. ADVANTAGE - Adaptable to different types and sizes of conductor.
