P New polysaccharide-producing Alteromonas bacteria are described. They are distinguished from known Alteromonas by many parameters. The corresponding polysaccharides have the capacity to form gels and emulsions and possess original properties, in particular because of their ion retention capacity in solution, as well as a biological activity. / P
