PURPOSE:To selectively separate and remove Sb and Bi from the titled soln. by simple operation by adding an oxidizing agent to the soln. in a stage for electrolytically refining copper. CONSTITUTION:A copper anode used in an stage for electrolytically refining copper contains impurities such as Sb and Bi. In the stage, part of the impurities is leached out, accumulates as impurities in an electrolytic soln. and hinders the electrolysis of copper. In order to selectively separate Sb and Bi from the copper electrolytic soln., an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide is added to the soln. The soln. freed of Sb and Bi by treatment with the oxidizing agent is sent to a stage for electrolytically removing copper as it is. Since only the oxidizing agent is added, sulfuric acid is not consumed and a different kind of metal does not enter the soln.
