PURPOSE: To manufacture precursor of an electrochemical battery by inserting an inoperable current collecting electrode into an electrode holder, and by consti tuting an operable current collector larger than a closure opening by extending a part of the current collector. CONSTITUTION: Separators 16 are circumferentially separated from each other, and have four lobes 46 aligned in a corner 14 of a canister 12. When a current collector 32 is inserted into a central post 33 and a battery, or in an inoperable constitution, a fin 43 folded in an opening part 28 is provided. The fin 43 spreads and extends into a space formed by the lobes 46 after the collector 32 is inserted through opening parts 27 and 28, and is aligned in a vertex direction of the lobe 46 to create an operable constitution. Subsequently, it is charged with a positive active mass and a fused electrolyte, and a current collector post 33 is welded to a terminal disk 34, and moreover, the terminal disk 34 is welded to a collar 29 along a rim of the collar 29.
