PURPOSE: To prevent the deposition of urinary calculus on a through of an experimental animal breeding stand by using a molding, aq. soln. mixture, powder mixture, or granule contg. an acidic substance and a permeating surfactant. ;CONSTITUTION: The deposition of urinary calculus is prevented by adding an acidic substance and a permeating surfactant to cleaning water in such amts. as to reduce the pH of the water to 5 or lower, pref. 2-5. The acidic substance is one which is dissolved in cleaning water to reduce the pH of the water to 5 or lower and comprises at least one compd. selected from the group consisting of a mineral acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid), its salt, an org. acid (e.g. succinic, maleic, or adipic acid), sulfamic aid, etc. The permeating surfactant is a nonionic, anionic, or cationic surfactant having permeating properties and comprises at least one compd. selected from the group consisting of a salt of sorbitan monopalmitate, a salt of a dialkylsulfosuccinic ester, etc. The surfactant is used usually in an amt. of 1-50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. acidic substance, though varied with the type of the surfactant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
