CODE CONVERSION METHOD, CODE CONVERSION SYSTEM AND DIGITAL DATA SIGNAL PROCESSING METHOD

摘要

PURPOSE: To reduce the capacity of a memory required for processing image data by converting data signals, such as image data, etc., from one of various data formats into an intermediate format which gives the compact expression of image information. CONSTITUTION: A group of data signals expressing original data in a selected first format are changed to a common intermediate format regardless of the selection of the first format among various formats. The intermediate format has a form which is compacter than that of the original data. The data signal of the intermediate format are subjected to image conversion, such as the rotation, filtering, contrast emphasis, etc., and then, converted into a second format which is different from the first format and matches a desired encoding system. The image conversion can also be performed by using a quantization matrix only.
