PURPOSE: To facilitate the construction of a knowledge base by providing a user interface which a knowledge possessor himself can operate. ;CONSTITUTION: The pattern form knowledge of parts is previously defined, and it is registered in the knowledge base by pattern form knowledge registration means 105 and 106. An operator designates the parts related to knowledge from an input device 108 by the display of a knowledge reference means 103. The type of knowledge to be defined, a knowledge definition system and a necessary input information item are sequentially displayed on a screen, and the operator sequentially designates them.
