PURPOSE: To calibrate weight during load rod processing without influencing a load supplied to a load rod by a spring load tolerance. ;CONSTITUTION: Optical lens elements installed on a turret to an indenter 3 of a load rod assembly 1 formed so as to collide with a sample to test microhardness, are properly arranged. The load rod assembly 1 is freed in a test mode, and a spring 4 is used to hold a load rod 2 in a home position separate from a test sample. Load weight 94 imparted to the load rod is not influenced by a spring load tolerance, and the weight is calibrated during weight manufacturing processing. The load rod assembly 1 is removed from a tester without requring to remove an internal part. A screw-cut nonrotating collar 7 easily adjusts a gap between the load rod assembly 1 and the test sample.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
