SMALL DIAMETER TYPE OPTIAL FIBER UNIT FOR OPTICAL COMPOSITE OVERHEAD/GROUND CABLE AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To provide an optical composite overhead/ground cable accomodating a plurality of coated optical fibers by providing small dia. optical fiber units to be used for an optical composite overhead/ground cable. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 1 covered with uletane acrylate ultraviolet curing resin are stranded around a center member 2 and they are covered with a primary cover 3 to form an integrated body. Thereon a soft secondary cover 4 is put to compose an optical fiber assembly or unit 5. A plurality of units 5 are stranded around a tensile strength body 6 and then they are covered with a heat resistant thin tape 7 while the secondary covers 4 are deformed into a sector form to fill up the gap between the units 5 and between the units 5 and the body 6 and bridging them, thereby improving the accomodation density. With the covers 4 the optical fibers 1 in the unit 5 is protected from the outside.
