the present invention is suitable to be used in a scanning detection system and is used to maintain the spatial resolution of a target area independently of the scanning angle. the invention includes means for detecting electromagnetic signals in the area of the surface. the sensor includes a plurality of detector elements.each detector generates a first plurality of output signals representative of the corresponding response of the detector to the energy received from the surface area within the field of vision of the detector as the detection system scans a pla ge is predetermined.means are provided for selectively controlling the synchronization signal output from the detector elements to the phase synchronization on them as a function of scan angle. means are also provided for agglomerating these signals to produce a combined output signal having a predetermined spatial resolution.
