A drive mechanism for the adjusting spindles 3a, 4a of rolling stands. The adjusting spindles 3a, 4a are guided by the uprights of the housings of the rolling stand and can be fixed in these against rotation and are guided by drive nuts 5, 6 which are supported in the housing base 7 of the rolling stand. Each of the drive nuts 5, 6 can be connected to an associated output gear wheel 14, 15 of the drive mechanism 12, 18, 19, 20, 14, 15. The drive mechanism 12, 18, 19, 20, 14, 15 is arranged with its gearbox housing 21 underneath the housing base 7; 37 of the rolling stand and connected releasably to the latter.
