The traditional purpose of ball tube mills consists in producing stone dust with the fineness of cement. By applying the method developed and the arrangement and using the present mill capacities, stone grits of 40-80% with a grain size of 0.09-2.5 mm were obtained. The practical mill speed of IMAGE was maintained. The grinding bodies used were small steel balls (not Cylpebs). This method ensures a reduction in the drive power (according to Blank) and thus a substantial energy-saving. Stone grits with round grain properties are increasing in significance in the production of building materials (screeds).
