The object underlying the invention is to specify a process for the conversion of materials resulting from the dismantling of military products. The object is achieved by a process for the conversion of stabilised hexogen or octogen from the dismantling of military products for the use in civilian products, in which the stabilised hexogen or octogen is first comminuted in water in a manner which is known, then the water is heated to a temperature of 75 to 95 DEG C and during this and/or afterwards, the comminuted stabilised hexogen or octogen is stirred in the water and then the water containing the comminuted and heated stabilised hexogen or octogen is cooled to at least below the softening temperature of the stabiliser.
