Proposed is a device (fluid-type knife) for the removal of solder at a soldering station. The device has a nozzle for a liquid which flows round the items being soldered. The advantages of the invention are that it reliably prevents or considerably reduces the formation of spatter or jumpers, the spatter and jumpers being removed at a very early stage. At the same time, the device can be used to provide a liquid to form a protective coat over the soldered items.
