The vehicle has at least two coupled carriages (1,2) with at least one pair of force transmission devices between them. Each device consists of a spring (3a) and a damper (3b) on one carriage connected by a cable (3c) passing around a roller (3d) on that carriage to a fixing point on the adjacent carriage. The relative movement of the carriages at their coupling puts a force into the cable and is modified by the action of the spring and damper to the benefit of passenger comfort. The force transmission device can be applied horizontally in a similar way between carriages.
