The mean nuclear power and the axial power difference in the core (4) of a reactor are determined, in a determination system (11), from signals supplied by two detectors, high (8) and low (10), by multiplying each of these signals by a sensitivity term in a multiplier (12, 14) preceding a matrix processing unit (16).
