ROAD SHOULDER STONE TYPE SNOW COVER SENSOR AND SNOWMELT METHOD USING IT

PURPOSE: To surely make a snow cover detection sensor function and perform effective snowmelt without losing the function and fine view of road by burying the snow cover detection sensor in a road shoulder stone composed of an amplifier built-in type dispersion reflection type photoelectric switch. ;CONSTITUTION: The snow cover detection sensor is an amplifier built-in type dispersion reflection photoelectric switch, and its sensitivity is adjusted so that it does not detect a black system of a part on a road but detect a white system, and is incorporated in a road shoulder stone. In other words, a light emitting and receiving element which is a main part of photoelectric switch is housed in a protection socket for the photoelectric switch attaching optical material, and buried in the road shoulder stone. The road shoulder stone housing such constituted sensor is set on the boundary of a roadway and a sidewalk, and snow accumulated on the roadway is detected. When the road shoulder stone type snow cover sensor detects that accumulated snow on the side of the roadway reaches a specified height, energy given to a heat generating wire buried in a paved bed or a heat generating body such as a hot water pipe is controlled, and a heating facility can be operated effectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
