INTERFACE SYSTEM BETWEEN PRINTER CONTROLLER AND FACSIMILE EQUIPMENT AND PRINTER INTERFACE DEVICE

PURPOSE: To use the facsimile equipment for a printer to print out image data from a host by applying minimum modification to the facsimile equipment only and connecting the facsimile equipment to an existing printer controller. CONSTITUTION: A signal line for image information requiring real time performance between a printer controller 1 and a facsimile equipment 2 is connected directly with a signal line 4 of picture information requiring real time character and signal lines 5, 6 allowing some delay are connected via a printer interface device 3, the transmission information from either of the printer controller 1 and the facsimile equipment 2 is once stored in the printer interface device 3 and the information is sent to the other with a protocol corresponding to the other party. A trace section in the printer interface device 3 stores elapsed information of communication between the printer controller 1 and the facsimile equipment 2.
