ANALYSIS OF PUFF-BY-PUFF GAS CONCENTRATION AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To provide a method for analyzing the puff-by-puff gas concentration of a cigarette to enable the determination of accurate data by a gas concentration analyzer. CONSTITUTION: A smoke-sucking head 1, a three-way stopcock 2, a filter holder 3, an electromagnetic valve 4 and a suction vessel 5 are connected with each other. A branch pipe 2b of the three-way stopcock 2 is opened to the air and a branch pipe 4b of the electromagnetic valve is connected to a gas concentration analyzer 400. A cigarette is ignited, the smoke-sucking head 1, the three-way stopcock 2, the filter holder 3, the electromagnetic valve 4 and the suction vessel 5 are made to be a communicating state and the suction gas of the cigarette T is sucked in the suction vessel 5 at a prescribed smoke-sucking pattern. The three-way stopcock 2 is opened to the air to suck air into the suction vessel 5 and dilute the suction gas in the suction of the smoke. The electromagnetic valve 4 is connected to the gas concentration analyzer 400 and the diluted gas in the suction vessel 5 is slowly supplied to the gas concentration analyzer 400 spending a sufficient time.
