PURPOSE: To record/reproduce information in a medium by providing an optical recording/reproducing means and the photoelectric conversion means of an interference pattern in the reproducing means. CONSTITUTION: A laser light is inputted from a recording light source 18 to a photoelectric splitter deflector 16 and divided into three beams 20 by input information Si. A beam separation angle is a function of the information Si, and a set or marks 12 are made. The recorded input information is accumulated as the variable dimension g (Si) of an optical interference pattern 14 during a reading operation, and then stored as a function of variable separation between a center maximum 14a and primary side minimums 14b and 14c. A reading system combines the laser lights of a light source 24, for instance in body sides of a disk 10 to be connected and separated, detects the pattern 14 by a photodiode array 26 and generates output signal information Si expressing the g (Si) by sensing the variable separation of the extreme values 14a, 14b and 14c.
