PURPOSE: To provide a water-proofing material (a water-proofing tape) which is utilized for a layer twisted-type communication cable, e.g. a copper metal type, an optical fiber loose tube type, etc., and which falls properly in gaps of communication wire bundles when coiled on the communication wire bundles, which are bundles produced by twisting a plurality of bundles of wires, to keep water proofing properties for a layer twisted-type communication cable. ;CONSTITUTION: A layer twisted-type communication cable is one having a two- layer structure consisting of a sheet substrate and a water absorptive composition layer on the substrate or one having a three-layer structure in which a cover cloth is put further on the water absorptive composition layer. The rigidity value in the vertical direction is within a range of 0.3-1.5gfcm²/cm and the rigidity value in the transverse direction is within a range of 0.2-0.5gfcm²/cm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
