PURPOSE:To eliminate the polysemy of the inter-noun relation within a compound noun of an original language with no intervention of a human being, by performing the selection via the sorting of vocabularies, the selection via the evaluation of the relation and the selection via a succession flag respectively. CONSTITUTION:A compound noun 'JIGYODAN' (a project group) is supplied to a vocabulary sorting relation selecting device 3 for check of the coincidence between the sorting of vocabularies and 'JIGYO' and 'DAN'. If no coincidence is obtained, the compound noun is supplied to an evaluation value relation selecting device 4 and a relation 1 is decided by the evaluation value. In the case of a compound noun 'KAKUSOBI', (nuclear equipment), the relations 10 and 11 are selected since the coincidence of vocabularies is secured between 'KAKU' and 'SOBI'. Then this compound noun is supplied to a meaning attribute checking device 6 and it is checked whether the noun of the other side is included or not directly in the attribute shown by the relation. As said noun is not included in this case, the compound noun is supplied to a succession flag relation selecting device 8 to check whether a noun is included or not in the lower part of the attribute. Then a relation 11 is decided.
