PURPOSE: To obtain a vibration damping material having large internal loss at nearly room temperature while keeping sufficient strength and hardness. ;CONSTITUTION: This vibration damping material comprises a blend of 100 pts.wt. of a binder resin consisting of 99-85wt.% of a base resin composed of one or two or more kinds of resins selected from a polypropylene resin, a polystyrene resin, an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer resin, a polycarbonate resin, a polyphenylene ether resin and a modified polyphenylene ether resin and 1-15wt.% of a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer resin with 1-20 pts.wt. of iron oxide particle powder. The vibration damping material is obtained by adding 1-30wt.% of master batch pellets for vibration damping materials obtained by blending 100 pts.wt. of a binding material resin composed of a base resin and a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer resin with 50-300 pts.wt. of oxide particle powder consisting essentially of iron to 99-70wt.% of a base resin and kneading and molding the blend.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
