METHOD FOR GRADING CALLUS OR THE LIKE HAVING HIGH REDIFFERENTIATING ABILITY FROM LAWN SEED

PURPOSE: To sort a callus having a high redifferentiating ability required for mass culture of a lawn plant body and a low variation incident frequency by germinating seeds, sorting the germinated seeds using a germination rate as an index and inducing the callus from the sorted seed. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for sorting a callus having a high redifferentiating ability or the like is to germinate sterilization-treated seeds in a germination culture medium, sort the germinated seeds only when the germination rate within a specific period exceeds a specific value, sort the germinated seeds using the germination rate within a specific period as an index, then bed the sorted germinated seed in an inducing culture medium at an auxin concentration regulated to that so as to enable the proliferation of the callus and the redifferentiation of stems and leaves to simultaneously occur, proliferate the callus, redifferentiate a part of the callus into the stems and leaves and sort only the callus in which the redifferentiated part thereof assumes a green color.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
