Aspects of the chuck jaws, such as the jaw face, aremanipulatively formed by selective redistribution of metal. Formation of thechuck jaws in this manner is distinguishable from jaws formed by prior artmachining techniques due to the structural orientation of grain in the metal.Forming of the chuck jaws preferably occurs at low applied temperature, i.e.,not exceeding 538 degrees Celsius.
