The present invention provides a system and method for interfacing a program in a secondary computational processing environment with a program in a primary computational processing environment. An advanced program-to-program server (APS) can exchange data between programs running in other computing environments and programs running on client computers. The APS controller process creates and manages multiple server processes. The server process establishes and supplies a communication link between a client program of one computing environment and a program of another computing environment by performing a client server function. The APS provides a single point of control that allows multiple clients to communicate through a single server.
