A method for increasing washfastness of a textile article containing polyamide fibers dyed with anionic dyes by treatment with an anionic dyeing agent. This method involves immersing the product in a liquid bath of an aqueous or substantially nonaqueous solvent medium for the dye, and heating the dye above the dye transition temperature. The salt is added to the salt bath so that the rate of addition of the salt complex to the salt bath is the first control factor for the rate of absorption of the salt complex by the product in the initial stage of the post treatment. In a later step, the rate of addition of the plating agent is controlled by adjusting the concentration in the bath, thereby reducing the tendency of the binder to coagulate from the bath.
