Prepn. of sec. amines comprises catalytic disproportionation of a starting material (II) comprising prim. aliphatic or prim. aromatic amine by contacting (II) with a hydrogenation catalyst (III) and H2. (III) is bimetallic and comprises a combination of Co or Ni with Rh, Pd, Ru or Pt.
