The respiration gases provision device uses an atomisation chamber (40) incorporating heating devices (52, 60) for the water and a spray jet (56) supplied with pressurised air. The heating devices (52, 60) allow thermal disinfection of the atomisation chamber (40) by heating to a temp. of about 125 degrees C. The obtained temp. is maintained for a time interval of variable duration. Pref. the atomisation chamber (40) has an inlet (68) and outlet (70) above the water level on opposite sides. The inlet (68) is preceded by a gas pre-heating chamber (32) with a further heating device (34) and a pressurised air and oxygen connection. The respiration line (74) feeding the air mixture to the patient is coupled to the outlet (70). ADVANTAGE - Simple, effective disinfection of atomisation chamber.
