Meinhard hybrid drive for vehicle propulsion unit

The hybrid drive has a combustion engine stage (14,15) and at least one current generator (116), which can be switched for operation as an electric drive motor, for use in conjunction with a drive battery. An integrated drive is used to switch between the combustion stage and the battery-operated electric motor in dependence on the vehicle velocity. The combustion engine stage is operated with diesel or petrol, or uses water, or a hydrogen and oxygen gas mixture as the fuel, with a 2-stroke combustion cycle and a pair of interfitting reciprocating shafts.
