Electrically operated air-blower unit as unit e.g. for blowing secondary air into IC engine exhaust system

The unit contains a d.c. motor (6) and an air compressor (2) directly driven by the d.c. motor. The d.c. motor is a brushless, electronically commutated, high speed motor, known as an EC motor. The air compressor is a radial fan.The external rotor (17,18) motor (6) can rotate at a speed of 30,000 r.p.m. The motor rotor (17,18) and fan wheel (2) are combined into a non-separable unit which is mounted on one end of the rotor shaft (21). A bush (20) connects the motor's rotor pole housing (17) and fan wheel to the rotor shaft. One end of the bush is curved to achieve undisturbed air flow into the fan wheel.
